How it works

Everything you need to succeed

1

Free online level test

Before you start, take our free 10-minute online level test. Workplace English is for learners at B1 (intermediate) through to C1 (advanced). We confirm your level before the course begins so you are always in the right class.

2

Live 2-hour weekly class on Zoom

Each week you attend one live 2-hour group class on Zoom with your CELTA-qualified Native teacher and a small group of international professionals. Classes combine language input, roleplay, and real discussion.

3

Workplace tasks and written assignments

Each week includes a short professional writing task — an email, a report summary, or a meeting summary — to practise what you have learned and receive personalised written feedback from your teacher.

4

Monthly progress assessments

At weeks 4, 8, and 12 you complete a short professional English assessment. Your teacher provides written feedback on your performance and recommendations for your continued development.

5

Certificate of completion

At the end of the 12-week programme you receive the Kensington English Recognised Certificate confirming your level (B1, B2, or C1), hours completed, and performance — a valuable addition to any professional portfolio.

Common questions

Frequently asked questions

What level do I need to start?

Workplace English Online is designed for learners at B1 (intermediate) through to C1 (advanced) level. This means you should already be able to hold a basic conversation in English and have some experience using English at work or in study. If you are not sure of your level, take our free online level test before enrolling. It takes 10 minutes and we will tell you exactly where you stand and which of our programmes is right for you.

What platform do classes run on?

All Workplace English classes are held live on Zoom. You will need a computer, tablet, or smartphone with a camera and microphone, plus a stable internet connection. Zoom is free to download and simple to use. Once enrolled, you will receive your class link, time, and schedule by email within 24 hours. We recommend using a laptop or desktop for the best experience — it makes activities such as reviewing emails and documents in class much easier.

What happens if I miss a class?

We appreciate that professionals have demanding schedules. If you miss a class, your teacher will email you the lesson notes, the key language covered, and any written task for that week. Students who notify us in advance can, where possible, join an equivalent class at the same level on an alternative day. We encourage consistent attendance — the speaking practice and group discussions are a core part of the learning experience and cannot be fully replicated through notes alone.

Is the certificate recognised?

Upon successful completion of Workplace English Online, you receive the Kensington English Recognised Certificate. This confirms your CEFR level (B1, B2, or C1), total hours of instruction completed, and the professional English skills covered during the programme. It is widely respected by international employers and educational institutions as evidence of professional English language training. It is a professional award from a UK-based English language school, rather than a standardised international qualification such as Cambridge Business English — but it carries real weight on a professional CV or LinkedIn profile.
