Safeguarding & Child Protection
How Kensington English keeps children safe in our online classes — and how to raise a concern.
Kensington English is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of every child who takes part in our online classes. The welfare of the child always comes first. This page is a summary for parents and carers; our full Safeguarding & Child Protection Policy is available on request.
Our commitment
Every child has the right to be protected from harm — regardless of age, ability, gender, race, religion, background or language. Everyone who teaches or works with children through Kensington English shares responsibility for keeping them safe.
Our Designated Safeguarding Lead
Our Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) is Gokhan Beyaz. If you have any concern about a child's safety or wellbeing, you can contact the DSL directly at gokhan@kensingtonenglish.co.uk.
How we keep children safe online
- Vetted teachers. Teachers who work with children are required to hold an enhanced DBS check, including a check against the Children's Barred List, and to follow our safeguarding code of conduct. (Teachers based outside the UK complete an equivalent criminal-record check for their country.)
- Secure classrooms. Lessons run on Zoom with safety settings enabled — waiting rooms, passwords, host-controlled screen sharing, and private messaging between participants switched off.
- Professional boundaries. Teachers communicate with students only through official channels, never privately, and any one-to-one session follows strict conditions.
- A parent nearby. We ask that a parent or carer is at home and aware while younger children are in class.
Lesson recordings
We may record lessons so children can look back over them and so we can keep classes safe and high quality. Recordings are stored securely, kept for a short time (around 90 days), and never shared publicly. Parental consent for recording is collected at enrolment. For full detail on how we handle personal data, see our Privacy Policy.
Parental consent
For every student under 18, we ask a parent or legal carer to complete enrolment and confirm consent — including acknowledgement of this safeguarding approach. You can withdraw any optional consent at any time by emailing info@kensingtonenglish.co.uk.
